lucky’s: a small business success story from pursuit

Nickquae “Lucky” Williams featured by Pursuit Lending for her cocktail lounge’s success in Bed-Stuy.

We were honored to recently have our story highlighted by Pursuit Lending, our SBA loan administrator, as a small business success story!

At Lucky’s, we’ve worked hard to create a space that our entire Bed-Stuy community can enjoy. Originally planned to open in March 2020, we know the pain of the stutter-start, having to delay opening plans and bringing our community indoors because of the COVID-19 pandemic. We overcame the hurdles thrown at us and have been open in Brooklyn coming up on two years now.

From Lucky:

“You have to find a funder that believes in you. Simone made the whole process human and compassionate and she worked tirelessly on my behalf. It would’ve taken me 20 years to save up enough money to bring this to fruition and instead, I got the loan I needed and I’ve opened the place of my dreams. So, if you’re getting turned down, don’t get discouraged – as hard as it is, view it as ‘protection’ that the right funder will come at the right time,”
